James J. Richardson is a Catholic composer, organist, music engraver, photographer, graphic designer, francophile, and family man. James obtained his Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the American Organ Institute at the University of Oklahoma, under Dr. John Schwandt, and his Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance at DePauw University under Dr. Carla Edwards. He completed additional studies with Jean Gallard, titular organist of the Cathédral de Beauvais, whilst living in Paris. James has studied Organ, Voice, Conducting, Harpsichord, and Trombone, and has participated in choral tours in China and Austria. He has been in active music ministry since 2007, serving multiple congregations (notably, the National Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague, in Prague, OK) and now serves as the Director of Sacred Music & Organist at the Cathedral of St. Augustine in Kalamazoo, MI. His musical interests particularly focus on Gregorian Chant and Renaissance Polyphony, as well as German Baroque & French Romantic organ repertoire.
He enjoys reading the writings of the Saints (particularly the mystics) as well as other theological works.
