Pardon Your people, O Lord; pardon them, O Lord!

Following on the tails of yesterday’s release, I present a hymn of similar provenance and beauty to !Perdón, Oh Dios Mío!

This hymn is slightly curious in that there are a number of [poor quality] recordings floating around, and they all seem to disagree slightly on rhythm. Some versions omit extra beats from the refrain, others contract the end of the first phrase of each verse to account for the extra beat at the beginning of the phrase… some do both, some do neither! I’ve set this edition to include the longer rhythms as these are easier and more predictable for a congregation to sing (read: breathe), however when singing this hymn, local custom should be observed, and the areas marked with brackets may be either omitted or contracted, respectively.
