2026 Diaconal Ordination • Strings Guide

Greetings all—
Here is our signup and ordo for Hector’s Diaconal ordination.

Ordination is the morning of Saturday, May 16th.

Warmups are at 8:30am
Mass starts at 10am

Attire is “Sunday best”.


Here’s the basic rundown:

  • Processional Hymn: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (LOBE DEN HERREN)

    • Basic SATB strings, alternating verses. Violins I & II play descant on final verse (separate page)

  • Kyrie and Gloria from Missa de Angelis TACET

    • Strings Tacet

  • Psalm 96: “Go out to all the world and teach all nations alleluia.” (YouTube Playlist)

    • Strings only play during chanted verses, following along with the natural sung speech, mp.

  • Festival Alleluia by Chepponis

    • This will be raucous; play out. Here’s the full sequence:

      • Organ fanfare intro

      • Organ (soft) + Cantor Demo of the refrain

      • ALL repeat the refrain forte.

      • Choir chants verse

      • ALL repeat final refrain + coda, fff

  • Litany of Supplication (modified Litany of Saints) TACET

  • Antiphon for the Handing on of the Book of the Gospels TACET

  • Antiphon for the “Fraternal Kiss” TACET

  • Offertory Anthem: More Love to Thee, O Christ. (playlist)

    • Strings only (no organ)

    • Verse 3 Choir a cappella, unless otherwise directed

    • Play warm / gentle / cantabile throughout

  • Offertory Hymn: time permitting, we will sing a special diaconate-specific text to the tune of the Veni Creator TACET

  • Sanctus & Agnus Dei: Missa XVIII (simple gregorian, in LATIN) TACET

  • Mysterium Fidei: ICEL / Missal version, in Latin. TACET

  • Communion Antiphon: “The Son of Man did not come to be served…” arr. JJR. TACET

  • Communion Hymn 1: Anima Christi by Marco Frisina (video)

    • Strings only (no organ)

  • Communion Hymn 2: Symbolom 77 (video)

    • Basic string introduction, after which there is organ accompaniment

    • each part has a different verse to play.

  • Recessional Hymn: Lift High the Cross to CRUCIFER. (video)

    • SATB Strings (matches organ part) playing / taceting on various verses, as indicated in each part.
