30th Sunday in OT
Musical ordo for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen IN. (2021)
Ordinary: Mass in Honor of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, by Michæl Olbash
Entrance Antiphon Hymn: Now Let Those Hearts Rejoice Tune: Nun Danket (“Now thank we, all our God.”) If you’d like to hear how Bach intended it to be sung, watch this. He composed cantatas like this every single week for years. It’s mind-boggling. He would write the music on Monday & Tuesday, it would be copied out hastily after that, and then the choir and orchestra would have 2-3 days to rehearse it before Sunday. Can you even imagine? (Seriously; go back and listen to the first movement in that recording.)
Entrance Antiphon: Fr. Weber 1614
NB: we will sing verse 1 which is not common for our introits; men will sing the first half up to the asterisk and women will respond with the second half before we repeat the antiphon again.
Psalm 126 — “The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.”
I’ve based this arrangement on the melody chanted by the Psalterium Currens schola.
Alleluia IV
Offertory Antiphon Hymn: O grant me life in accord with Thy word. Tune: SLANE (“Be Thou my vision”)
Communion Antiphon: Fr. Weber 1629 — Just like the entrance antiphon, we will split the verses at the asterisk, with men leading the first half and women responding the second half. (with a nice lift in between!) We will also pair verses 1&2, and 3&4 together to economize our time.
Communion Motet: O Salutaris Hostia by Anerio
Communion Hymn: In Your True Presence Here Tune: TRENTHAM
Recessional Hymn: Maria! Maria!
See you 10:20 in the Youth Room.
