Immaculate Conception (B • 2023)
Just in case you’d like to do a little extra preparation for tomorrow:
Advent I (B • 2023)
Hi Friends—
So the show officially begins! I want to thank you again for an excellent rehearsal on Wednesday—we managed to work our way through a lot of music. Be prepared to have more rehearsals like it, because we haven’t even started the «Christmas» music yet!
At any rate, here are the practice tracks for this coming weekend. I’m really looking forward to this seasonal change. It is good for us.
Entrance Antiphon Hymn to the tune of PUER NOBIS.
Entrance Antiphon: Fr. Weber #2
Missa XVII
Psalm 80: Lord, make us turn to You; let us see Your face and we shall be saved.
Alleluia ‘Regem Venturum’
Offertory Antiphon (vernacular chant)
Communion Antiphon: Fr. Weber # 17
Communion Motet: Ad Te Levavi by Witt.
Communion Hymn: Saviour of the Nations, Come to the tune of NUN KOMM DER HEIDAN HEILAND
Marian Antiphon: Alma Redemptoris Mater
*NB: we will not hold the lengthened notes (groupings of three with the bars over the top) as long as these recordings.
Lastly, don’t forget about the Advent Lookahead list, if you want to continue working on some of the motets we will be singing in the next few weeks.
See you Sunday morning!
Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (A • 2023)
Hi Friends—
We have an exciting lineup for this coming weekend. Obviously, in the absence of rehearsal this evening, a little bit of extra prep. work will be required on your end. I hope you have a great time with your families, but let’s remember WHO we are thanking, and come prepared on Sunday!
Immediately Preceding Mass: Choral Fanfare for Christ the King
Entrance Hymn: Crown Him with Many Crowns (v.4 is the Entrance Antiphon trope)
[I will cover the Entrance Antiphon if it is even needed]
Psalm 23: The Lord is My Shepherd — new version! (Playlist)
Alleluia for the Feast of Christ the King (with special choral coda)
Credo III
Offertory Hymn: When Morning Gilds the Skies
Communion Antiphon: I will sing the original from the Gregorian Missal.
Communion Hymn: Laudate Dominum (this is the special hymn I wrote that uses the same music as the alleluia; it’s been a while since we’ve sung it, but you’ll recognize it immediately)
**LAUDES REGIÆ (“Christus Vincit”)** Fr. Royce and I will take turns chanting the invocations, and you will lead the congregation’s responses. (No Salve Regina)
Recessional Hymn: At the Name of Jesus, Every Knee Shall Bow
33rd in OT (A • 2023)
Hi Friends—
Here’s our ordo for this weekend.
Entrance Antiphon Hymn to “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee”
Fr. Weber 1682
Psalm 128
Alleluia VI (final week of this Alleluia)
Offertory Antiphon Hymn (De Profundis trope) to the “Third Mode Melody”
Fr. Weber 1697
[No special motet since the Communion hymn is so long]
Communion Hymn: Oh That I Had a Thousand Voices! to a chantified version of “Neumark”.
Salve Regina
Recessional Hymn: Holy Michæl Great Archangel to the tune “Lauda Anima”
As a quick look ahead for the Feast of Christ the King next weekend:
I am going to finalize things on Monday, but I believe we will also do “Crown Him with Many Crowns” and “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”.
