Ecce Dominus Noster • Free English Transcription
Candlemas is almost upon us, and the rite (novus ordo) calls for the antiphon Ecce Dominus Noster which is provided in the Missal in both English and Latin (this particular choice of antiphon appearing to have its genesis in the Graduale Simplex).
While I am pleased that the Missal offers an English variant, I found the ICEL adaptation rather wanting in the sense that it strayed noticeably from the source chant (a peculiar issue with many of the ICEL adaptations…) so I’ve crafted a new version which resembles the original chant more closely.
The following free PDF includes both modern and square note versions of both the Latin & English versions. (Print it double-sided, and you’ll have both languages in both notational styles on the same document.)
