Saint Hildegard Project

If you are in the South Bend / Fort Wayne area, I’d like to share the news about the formation of a new musical ensemble, the Saint Hildegard Project. Founded by Mr. Jerome Cole, the music director & organist at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN, this ensemble pulls together a number of excellent area musicians (and music directors) from various Catholic churches in the region.

I am thrilled to have been invited to be a part of this group, which shows exquisite promise! The group focuses on Gregorian plainchant as well as masterworks of Renaissance Polyphony by composers such as Palestrina, Victoria, and Byrd, to name but a few.

This past Friday, the group held its inaugural event at St. Joe’s, which had a remarkable turnout considering the inclement weather! Upcoming highlights include two diocesan workshops, among others, where we will help teach area musicians how to properly chant Vespers, in anticipation of the diocesan push to host 40 hours devotions at every parish as a part of the national Eucharistic Revival.

I’m pleased to share here a few snippets from our concert, to wet your pallet for things to come!

Pax,
James
