7th in OT (A • 2023)
Hello Friends,
Here is our ordo for this weekend. Please be sure to listen to If Ye Love Me once or twice to really refresh & cement it in your mind. Also, at the very bottom, I’m posting a link to the psalm for Ash Wednesday, which, to my shame I forgot to give you at rehearsal. We will try and run through this briefly on Sunday to make sure we have it prepared.
Entrance Antiphon Hymn to the tune of St. Flavian
Entrance Antiphon: Fr. Weber #1091 (option ii)
Psalm 103: The Lord is kind and merciful.
Alleluia de Angelis
Offertory Hymn: Lamb of God, We Follow Thee to the tune of Gott Sei Dank / Lübeck
Communion Antiphon: Fr. Weber #1104 (option i)
Communion Motet: If Ye Love Me by Tallis
Communion Hymn: In Thy True Presence Here to the tune of Trentham
Ave Regina Cælorum
*followed by the recessional hymn during which an effigy of the Alelluia will be carried in procession and reposedRecessional Hymn: Alleluia, Song of Gladness to the tune Dulce Carmen.
Here’s my practice track for If Ye Love Me; this one has time-stamps for individual voice parts, which may be helpful for you; that said, this was before I reached my current proficiency level, so the melody is in the male octave, and I had to octave shift a few spots in the alto part (although it should still help you, Altos). I will also link a “normal” performance below my PT track.
(If you’re wondering where I ever got the idea…)
Looking Ahead:
Here’s the promised psalm for Ash Wednesday, followed by a few other Lenten things if you want to be working ahead. And on the bright side, the psalm for Ash Wednesday and Lent I are the same this year! Do peek at Exaltabo Te if you missed rehearsal, as this is for Ash Wednesday as well.
Here is a playlist that contains 4 of the antiphons for feet washing on Holy Thursday.
