7th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Ordo for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C (2022) at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen, IN.
(2022)
Ordinary: Olbash
Entrance Antiphon Hymn Tune: LAND OF REST (a.k.a. “Jerusalem, my happy home”)
Entrance Antiphon: Simple English Propers
NB: dont forget that the men will sing the first half of verse 1, and women will sing the second half beginning at “how long must I…” but there is a ‘flex’ on the first line. (This is demonstrated in the recording and video.)
Psalm 103: “The Lord is kind and merciful.”
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia V
Offertory Hymn: Offertory Antiphon Text, sung to the tune of Tallis’ Third Mode Melody. Click here to view the score.
Our Father (Roman tone transcription)
Communion Antiphon: Fr. Weber #1104
NB: I have re-printed this for the choir with corrected verses. You will not need your Fr. Weber books at all this weekend. Click here to view the corrected version.
Communion Motet: Cantate Domino by Pitoni
NB: we will sing it through twice, as is our custom.
Communion Hymn: Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven. Sung to the tune ALLELUIA DULCE CARMEN. Click here to view the score.
NB: learn this harmonization well, as we will repeat it next Sunday for the “burial of the alleluia”. (Also, I apologize that there is a bit of a delay at the start of each track.)
Recessional Hymn: Ave Regina Cælorum
PS—Ash Wednesday is March 2, and we have the 5:30pm Mass… (sorry…) Usual conditions apply: we’ll do the best we can; get there when you can.
PPS—I’ve recently spoken to Doug. He said that he is able to walk more and is regaining some feeling and function in his left hand, the latter of course being a rather huge development. Please keep praying for him.
6th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Ordo for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C (2022) at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen, IN.
(2022)
Greetings all—
As discussed on Wednesday, this weekend will be slightly different from normal in that we will be singing the text of the St. Michæl prayer as a hymn at the end of Mass, rather than doing our typical byzantine chant version before Mass. That said, here is the rest of our ordo:

Advent I
Musical ordo for the 1st Sunday of Advent (Year C) at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen IN. (2021)
Ordinary: Liturgical seasons have changed! Now we return to Missa XVII which is traditionally sung on Sundays in Advent & Lent.
Entrance Antiphon Hymn: My Spirit Unto Thee I Raise
Tune: Puer Nobis Nascitur (see below)
Entrance Antiphon: Fr. Weber #10 (NB: this is actually the “offertory ii” antiphon, but we will sing it as the entrance antiphon since the text is the same as the entrance antiphon and the melody is nicer.)
Psalm 25 — “To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.”
(This is based on the Gregorian introit for Advent I “Ad te levavi anima mea.”)
Alleluia ‘Rorate Cæli’ — This is based on the Advent Antiphon ‘Rorate Cæli’ (“Drop down dew from above, ye heavens, and let the clouds rain down the Savior!”) We will sing this throughout Advent (with the possible exception of Gaudete Sunday where we may do something more festive).

Confirmation 2021
Greetings friends—
Confirmation is this coming Wednesday, Oct. 27th at 7pm. If you are able, I’d like to meet no later than 6:30 to briefly warm up before Mass. I will be up in the loft earlier than that, so if you can make it or you’d like to go over anything personally before then, I will be there.
Here is our ordo for that Mass:
Ordinary: Olbash
Procession of the Confirmands: Dum Sanctificatus
Processional Hymn: Come, Holy Ghost, Creator Blest (Tune: Lambilotte)
Psalm 117 “You will be My witnesses to all the world.”
Gospel Acclamation: “Alleluia for the Feast of Christ the King” with the special tag / coda at the end. (We will obviously sing the version with the confirmation verse; the video below omits the verses all together and simply plays a short intro, sings the refrain the last time and segues directly into the choral tag/coda.)
During the anointing of the confirmands: Veni Creator chant in alternatum with organ, every other verse.
Offertory: Lead Me, Lord by SS Wesley.
Communion Antiphon 1: Confirma Hoc Deus
Communion Antiphon 2: Qui vult venire post me (Latin, with English verses)
Communion Antiphon 3: Factus Est (we will sing this only if if is needed; I’ve decided that since it’s a bit involved and we only had one refresher with it, I’ll chant the refrain and the choir will do the verses.)
Communion Hymn: O Breathe on Me, O Breath of God
Recessional Hymn: Sing Praise to the Lord
