Psalm 138 • In the sight of the angels, I will sing Your praises, Lord. (In conspectu angelorum)

$2.50

This setting of Psalm 138 “In the sight of the angels I will sing Your praises, Lord!” is adapted from a Gregorian antiphon which treats the same text. Unlike many other chant-adapted settings by James Richardson, this particular setting adapts the original antiphon essentially 1:1. Discerning eyes will notice that the melody of the verses is derived from the first half of the antiphon as well. The end result is an unusually “tight” composition of haunting beauty.

Cantor-only and SATB (together and each part soloed) practice videos are available for your schola as well, and are linked below. If mp3 tracks are needed, please email James at ServiamScores@gmail.com.

Please note, to fit the entire score and the chant onto one page, this work is in landscape format (US Letter).

Purchasers of this score are permitted to print as many copies as are necessary for their schola. Streaming rights are permitted with no requirement to take down the stream after a given period of time. We do humbly request that you purchase this score once per year that it is used at your parish, to help support the work of the composer and the maintenance of this site.

Upon completing your purchase, you will receive a link which will permit you to download the PDF of the score for 24 hours once it has been activated.
