Psalm 51 • I will rise and go to my father. (Vado ad patrem)

$2.50

Here we present James J. Richardson’s setting of Psalm 51 (ref. Lk. 15:18) “I will rise and go to my father.” with the melody based on the Gregorian antiphon “Vado ad patrem” as found in the Antiphonarium pro Ecclesia Einsidlensi (early 14th c.).

The refrain is a nearly 1:1 adaptation of the beginning of the chant, and the verses continue more of the original chant melody that is not pictured on the score. To view the original manuscript, visit here: https://www.e-codices.ch/en/list/one/sbe/0611 (f. 61r)

A full SATB, time-stamped practice video is available on the ServiamScores YouTube channel to help your choirs learn this work.

US-Letter, Landscape (Refrain melody inserts for worship aids are available upon request.)

Once you have completed your purchase, you will receive a link which will allow you to download a PDF of this score. You may then print as many copies as are needed for your choir/schola. We humbly request that you purchase our psalm settings once per annum to help support the work of the composer and the maintenance of this site.
